NEW/REVISED ROLES.
THE STORY:
A Preacher's teen daughter seeks a music career from a handsome
record producer. Daddy disapproves of the recording industry and
the unscrupulous record producer who is determined to sign her to
his label.
THERE IS PARTIAL NUDITY IN THIS PROJECT.
[PASTOR CARL STEWART] 45 year old African American male
Preacher is handsome and tall with an athletic build. In public
he is always impeccably dressed; he is charismatic, educated, and
well read. He possesses the dynamic preaching ability of a
Baptist or AME Preacher. He is hiding a secret from the past, but
he is changed for the better.
[XAVIER JACKSON "JAG"] 28 year-old African American
male record producer, is tall dark and handsome. This P.
Diddy/L.L. Cool J-type is also a PK (preachers kid) who has
turned away from his religious roots to become a smooth
slick-talking businessman, with a deep lust for big money,
beautiful girls, and expensive cars. BLING BLING?
[KENYA EVANS] 18 year-old African American female best friend to
Janet is an immature, boisterous and flippant "Countess
Vaughn" type. Carl perceives her to be a bad influence on
Janet.
[CASSANDRA DAVIS] African American, 44 year old pious but complex
neighbor of
the Stewart family, is a divorcee, sings in the choir. She's
miserable because she's lost every man in her life, including her
runaway teen son. Weary of waiting for Carl's affections, she is
involved in a scandalous relationship with a married man.
[JERRY STEWART] 37-year-old African American, younger brother to
Carl Stewart quietly lives in his brother's shadow. His warm
easygoing but reckless personality is a sharp contrast to that of
Carl's. His dream of recording gospel is manipulated by Xavier
Jackson to entice his beloved niece to sign with LOCKDOWN
RECORDS.
[SHERMAN ABDUL] African American. 23 year-old former adopted son
of Carl Stewart (brother to Janet) is now a homeless alcoholic
and incapable of resolving his issues of abandonment and prior
history of child abuse. He was banished by his adoptive parents
years ago, but his true identity is later revealed by an unlikely
source.
[LE'RON JEFFERSON "LJ"] 20-year old African American
male. He was once the hottest teen Rapper around; he?s falling
for Janet. This "Tupac Shakur" type is tough,
self-assured, resourceful, trash talking and hot-tempered.
[T. ANTHONY] 32 year old (minority) male and "wanna-be?
JAY-Z type, is the exuberant fast lane manager of the once hot
teen Rapper ?L.J.?
[STEVE CHAPPELL] 23 year old white male, wanna-be Eminem clone,
is an egotistical cookie-cutter Rapper who is on his way to being
the biggest Hip Hop recording artist in the industry - that is if
he doesn't shoot his mouth off and spoil it. He is a total
bigmouth, and has to have the last word, even to his detriment.
[ATTORNEY] 31 year old white male, entertainment lawyer for Steve
Chappell. This Christian Slater type is all about business, and
is the kind of guy who goes fly-fishing on his days off. Could be
played by just about any ethnicity.
[HELEN WILLIAMS] 67 year old African American woman, this
"Ruby Dee" type is Johnny's elderly Aunt. (Cameo)
[M.C.] 27 year-old bi-racial male, radio personality.
[CONCERT HOST] 29 Year old, female radio personality is a comedic
genius.
[BROTHER WHITTINGHAM] African American, 70 year old male, a
"George Wallace" type, presents a community award to
Carl. ADLIB for comedy.
[FEDEX GUY] 30-something parcel delivery driver is handsome and
muscular. Could be played by any ethnicity.
[SENIOR CITIZEN] 80 year-old Asian Female church volunteer.
[HIP HOP BAND] Call with Submissions
[JANET] Female, 17, African AMerican. Slender, 5'-7", under
140 lbs. Cross between ALicia Keyes and Monica type. Pretty,
poised, superior singing ability (must sing Gospel/lead
performer)...

Death, like birth, is one of lifes defining moments. Yet
although detailed planning precedes a birth, most people do not
prepare for death. Instead, the deceased are entrusted to
complete strangers a practice many find dissatisfying.
A moving and surprisingly cheerful film A Family Undertaking

The International Forum of New Cinema, together with Mediamatic
Amsterdam will be presenting a five-day workshop about
Interactive Cinema at the Berlinale festival February 5-9, 2004.

the possibilities of interactive storytelling, design their own
projects in consultation with experienced trainers, and build
their own working prototype. To make their interactive stories,
the participants use the elegant and easy to learn Korsakow
System (http://www.korsakow.com ). No prior experience with new
media is required. Interested filmmakers can register for the

ALL OR SONS-FALLEN HEROES OF 9/11 makes its LA premiere at the
2004
PAN AFRICAN FILM FESTIVAL
On that fateful day, September 11, 2001, the nation lost its
certainty, NY Firefighters lost their brethren, the African
American community lost a legacy, and twelve families lost a son.
In a profoundly moving new documentary, "All Our Sons,"
the families of those African American firefighters who perished
in the World Trade Towers share their pride and their pain.
Skillfully integrating news footage with sometimes wrenching,
exclusive interviews, this thirty-minute film paints a
vivid portrait of men like Leon Smith Jr., who declared at age
nine, "Yes I am, Mommy. I am going to become a
firefighter." And he did. But on 9/11, Leon entered one of
the towers just minutes before it collapsed.
"All Our Sons" is a loving tribute to men like Leon;
but it is also the willful effort to document the lives of a
people whose faces are frequently framed outside the focus of
American media, and whose history is too often scribbled in the
margins of the American journal.
"All Our Sons" is produced by the award-winning
filmmakers who contributed to such celebrated works as "Eyes
on the Prize II," "Roots ⤠Celebrating 25
Years," "Conscience and Constitution," and many
others.

MAKING RGB PRIMARY
Who's Afraid of Blue, Red and Green?
One of the final works of American Abstract Expressionist Barnett
Newman's career was Who's Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue?, an
exploration of vibrant primary colors on a massive canvas that
typified Newman's lifelong obsession with the fundamental
elements of painterly composition. This winter, Austrian
multimedia artist Gunther Selichar is sponsoring an online art
competition/public art project entitled Who's Afraid of Blue, Red
and Green? that adapts Newman's concerns with composition for the
canvas to the modern digital display screen. The contest invites
participants to design 15-second abstract animations employing
the "primary colors" of the screen: blue, red and
green.
The online competition runs from January 21 - March 31, in
concert with an exhibition of Selichar's work at the Landesmuseum
in Linz, Australia from January 21 - February 28. A jury
consisting of various representatives of the creative community
will select three winners, to be notified in March. The winning
three entries will ultimately appear in Creative Time's
continuing series The 59th Minute: Video Art on the Times Square
Astrovision, screening in the final minute of each hour on
Panasonic's Astrovision in Times Square as part of an interactive
art group show from late June through September.
