5. EVENTS

Movies in the Park brings you "GREASE" Saturday,
September 25th with live entertainment by "The
Natural Hazards" band with special guest Johnny Sanchez,
formerly of Santana, prior to the film.
Entertainment begins at 6:00PM and the movie begins at dusk -
approximately 7:30PM.
Enjoy a vintage car show and food from Whole Foods, Cold Stone
Creamery and
Others will be on hand serving dinner items, drinks, popcorn, and
desserts. Donations of
$4/adult and $2/child are appreciated. Every dollar donated gets
you a chance to win one of
our fabulous door prizes with a portion of your contribution
given to three local non-profit
organizations; Summer Camperships for Kids, the Petaluma Senior
Center and the Polly
Hannah Klaas Performing Arts Center.

NEXT LAFCPUG MEETING
The Next Meeting of the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group
(lafcpug) willbe Wednesday, September
22, 2004 6:45PM at the LA Film School in Hollywood. Doors open at

School Night" as we attempt to cram in as many FCP tips and
techniques into one night as time will
allow. This will also be the second to the last meeting at the LA
Film School as they have announced that
they are going out of the theater rental business. So make sure
you make this meeting so you can tell your
grandchildren, "Ah yes, I remember the lafcpug meetings at
the LA Film School when we all used to go to
the Jack in the Box for 99 cent Tacos."
Scheduled on the agenda will be Ripple Training's Steve Martin
who will show us a new technique he calls
Power Logging.
Sharon Franklin will cover organization as well as tricks for
assembling docs quickly using as an example
an as-of-yet untitled documentary she is currently working on for
the Sundance Channel, directed by Mario
Van Peebles.
Producer/Editor Les Perkins and FCP Guru Philip Hodgetts will
demonstrate their really cool compositing,
chroma-key and film-look effects on a bonus feature for the
forthcoming Mary Poppins - 40th Anniversary
DVD from Disney.
DVCreators, Josh Mellicker will show off what he calls, JoshKeys,
a revolutionary new customized editing
setup/technique solution that will allow you to complete many
projects in half the time.
Plus another round of Stump the Gurus, Show and Tells by Noah
Berlow and Rick Sebeck, and of course,
World Famous Raffle.

be speaking at our September 29th meeting. Thanks to Apple

Walter Murch was one of the talented young filmmakers, along with
George Lucas and Francis Ford
Coppola, that essentially founded Northern California cinema.
From his beginnings as a sound editor on
Coppola's "The Rain People," Murch went on to win
Oscars for his work on "Apocalypse Now" and "The
English Patient." Always one to embrace emerging technology,
Murch was the first to edit a major motion
picture, "Cold Mountain," using Final Cut Pro.
