STRANGE CASE OF KIP MCLEAN
A silent short about a middle aged working stiff driven to insomnia and
exhaustion by the monsters that have taken residence under his bed. As
his professional and personal life spiral into disarray, a new work
opportunity provides him a glimmer of hope.

Roles:
Kip Mclean, 35-40, Relentlessly kept awake by the monsters that wake up
under his bed every night, Kip is a walking epitome of exhaustion. His
bizarre situation has repercussions on his love life and his performance
at work, and he is nearly at the point of hopelessness.
Bartender, 30-35, forced to break Kip's nightly attempts to slumber
night after night at the bar.
The Boss 40-45, who has no faith left in Kip and is waiting to give him
the axe.
Lucy 25-30, Besotted by Kip, who is clueless about the bizarre entities
his apartment harbors.

Commitment: 2 days of shooting - most probably April 4&5 2009.
1-2 rehearsals, read throughs before shoot.

Compensation: DVD of film upon completion for your portfolio.
Screening of film at the Alamo drafthouse in early May.

Recurve Productions is now searching for actors and actresses for a
dramatic short to be filmed in the Austin area. We are looking for a
young mother (ages 25-30), a young father (ages 25-35) and two young
boys (ages 4-7 and 7-9).

The short film will be a period piece set in the late 1950s, so the
"nuclear family" look is particularly important. All actors will be
required to commit to two days over a weekend in April, for about 4-6
hours per day. Each actor will be paid $125 for both days of work, plus
any necessary pickup shots or promotional appearances.

At least one parent of each child must also attend the shooting dates.

8 Secfonds to Glory
This is a sport drama with a western flavor centered around the West
Texas area about a high school bull rider. This is a full-length feature
motion picture. This is a low budget independent production, produced by
Playbook Productions.

Audition Info:
Auditions will most likely be in Lubbock, Texas; however depending on
response there could be auditions in other locations. The dates, times
and locations are TBA.

Commitment:
Production begins June 1st. The shoot is a 4-week shoot, scheduled to
run through June 26th. With a 5-day shoot week Monday through Friday,
with Saturdays and Sundays off. However, some cast members will not be
needed all four weeks.

Compensation:
Contract and pay will be negotiable based on experience, role, and
budget. Also, copies of finished product will be available for reel,
upon request in various formats. As well as, a fully catered production
with food for cast and crew.

Characters:
Justin Wade: A young west-Texas high school senior. The headstrong
protagonist of our film. A bull-rider with a lot of growing up to do
throughout the film. Our main character with a toughness and drive that
leads to his passion for everything he does.

Landon Price: Justin’s taller best friend. Very athletic, and also a
graduating high school senior. A calm mannered voice of reason for our
protagonist, and someone that pushes him as hard as possible.

Charlie Wade: Justin’s father. A man that is a rancher/farmer that
pushes his son as hard as he can. He is tough on Justin and believes his
life should revolve around learning the ranching/farming business he’s
done for so long, and that is a tough person to convince about Justin’s
potential. In all actuality he brings out the best in Justin at the end
of it all.

Christine: A pretty girl, of the same age as Justin and Landon; after
the loss of Justin’s mother, she becomes a confidant and companion for
Justin. As he progresses away from his headstrong nature, she is the
person who is right there with Landon helping him through it all, and
instilling that belief in him.

Sam Wade: Sam is Justin’s mother. She is Justin’s saving grace, and the
person he leans on most. She helps him with struggles and is the one
that helps him see the good in what his dad tries to do. She provides
for the family, and becomes the inciting incident for the entire story
with her passing and encourages the growth that takes place in Justin.

Announcer: Multiple voice talents with enthusiastic sports announcer
quality. Preferable experience calling any sort of sport. There will be
several for several individual rodeos.

3KO was formed 9 years ago under the name of the Sidewalk Theatre Company as a group of actors and writers with the goal to produce original work only. Over the years, we have successfully produced more than 25 main-stage and second stage shows that have been favorably reviewed by critics in Backstage West, LA Times, NoHo LA, LA Weekly and many others.

In addition to producing 2 - 3 mainstage shows per season, our members are eligible to participate in our weekly workshops held every Wednesday night. We are seeking to add to our current membership from both union and non-union actors, writers, directors, and other theater artists in Los Angeles. We are a dues-paying, self-producing company and currently maintain an average of 15-25 members.

struggles to coexist with a formidable woman who appears when dimensional
levels fluctuate inside his apartment.

COMPANY OF ANGELS IS SEEKING ACTORS FOR ITS LATEST 10-MINUTE PLAY FESTIVAL

"L.A. VIEWS: TALES OF PRESENT PAST"

Over twenty roles to be cast!

L.A. VIEWS is the annual 10-minute play festival by the award-winning Company of Angels Theatre, the oldest non-profit theatre company in Los Angeles. This year€ ’²s edition, L.A. VIEWS: TALES OF PRESENT PAST, comprises eight 10-minute pieces, created by Los Angeles playwrights for a Los Angeles audience. All eight pieces are world premieres.

Taking inspiration from the glorious celebrities of the silent movie era, these 10-minute plays are variously inspired by Enrico Caruso, Sessue Hayakawa, Alla Nazimova, Pola Negri, Mabel Normand, Ramon Navarro, Mary Pickford, and Rudolph Valentino.

The playwrights include Damon Chua, Leon Martell, Jamison Newlander, Henry Ong, S. Vasanti Saxena, Lilly Thomassian, Brenda Varda and Kyle T Wilson. Directors are Tony Gatto, Jamison Newlander, Lui Sanchez and Nurit Siegel. The Executive Producer is Marlene Forte.

LA VIEWS will open on Friday April 17 and run till Sunday May 10, with performances on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Rehearsals will start once casting is complete. Show will run under the AEA 99 Seat Code.

THE WOMEN WHO HEAR THE CALL...

THE BATTERY WOMAN, Chinese, 40s, a woman obsessed with collecting used batteries and bringing awareness in China as to the dangers of contaminating water with used batteries.

ALMA, 30s, a journalist obsessed with investigating the murders in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and finding justice and peace for the souls of the murdered women who are in limbo and haunt her at night.

YOLANDA, 20s, who despite having had a magical connection with a tree, denies being an activist by recounting her experience living on a tree for two months as just an accident.

SALLY, 20s, an American tourist in Paris defends herself as an environmental activist when she is accused of being a terrorist for creating bombs from dog poop that go off when inconsiderate Parisians throw their cigarettes on the street.

MOE, 40s, short, tough, but jovial, is a former drug dealer who turned her life around and volunteered for the red cross during Hurricane Katrina and ends up being in charge of a the "Cajun Dome" where her past experiences and her inner strength prepared her for the job of her life.

SOLEDAD, 30s, is a woman willing to try past-life regression to get to the roots of her problem surrounding her neck and throat. She discovers a whole new perspective on her life and how indestructible she really is.

THELMA, 60s, an old hippie, leads a Getting In Touch With Your Goddess Workshop for women by reminding them they are already Goddesses. She invited Mother Nature to stop by and is super excited she'll by coming by.

MOTHER NATURE, 12, is a powerful figure disguised as a little girl who informs the women at the workshop and the audience to listen to her because she has been calling for a long time.
